William & Mary baseball freshman left-handed pitcher and First Colonial grad Bodie Sheehan was tabbed as the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week for the week of May 23.

Sheehan allowed just three hits and an unearned run in 7.0 innings of work in William & Mary’s 6-1 victory over College of Charleston last Friday. The southpaw struck out four and didn’t give up an extra-base hit to even his record at 4-4 for the season.

In his first year with the Tribe he pitched 72.1 innings making 16 appearances with 13 starts. He posted a 4.73 ERA with 37 strikeouts.

The Virginia Beach, Va. native is the seventh Tribe player to win a weekly award. He joined senior Charley Gould, junior Charles Ameer and freshman Kyle Wrighte, who have been player of the week, juniors Nick Brown (twice) and Daniel Powers, who won pitcher of the week, and classmate Hunter Smith, who was CAA Rookie of the week.

Sheehan and the Tribe earned the No. 2 seed for the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament that started this week in Charleston, S.C.
