The cause of a Thursday afternoon house fire in Seasons Trace remains unknown, fire officials said.
Units from the James City County and City of Williamsburg fire departments responded to the 100 block of Teal Way around 4:32 p.m. Thursday, the first of which arrived at 4:38 p.m., according to a news release.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke showing from the garage and attic areas, and encountered intense smoke and fire in the garage as they entered the two-story home. The fire was brought under control by 5:09 p.m.
One person, who called 911 after smelling smoke, was home at the time of the fire and evacuated before the fire units arrived.

Firefighters removed debris and checked for additional fire damage for several hours after the fire was extinguished.
The garage suffered significant fire and smoke damage, while the living areas suffered smoke and heat damage, the release said.
No one was injured during the incident, and the fire’s cause remains under investigation.
