SeaWorld Entertainment recently announced that Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Water Country USA Park President Carl Lum will be leaving the Virginia parks to take on the same role at SeaWorld San Antonio.
Lum has been with SeaWorld Entertainment since 1999 and has held various leadership roles within the company during that time, according to a recent news release.
Promoted to Park President at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Water Country USA in 2010, Lum has overseen several significant events at both parks, including the launch of Busch Gardens’ Food and Wine Festival, the expansion of Busch Gardens’ Christmas Town and the addition of major attractions at both parks – most recently Tempesto at Busch Gardens and Colossal Curl at Water Country.
In addition to his service to the parks, Lum also served as the chairman of the Greater Williamsburg Chamber & Tourism Alliance from fall 2014 to fall 2015 and as a member of the Williamsburg Area Destination Marketing Committee.
“We are very sad to see Carl Lum leave the destination, as he has been a tremendous leader in tourism and in our community,” said Karen Riordan, president and CEO of the Alliance. “We are grateful for all the support and incredible leadership he has provided as our Immediate Past Chair of the Tourism Alliance, as well as WADMC. We will miss his tourism acumen and his friendship.”
Lum’s switch to San Antonio Park President went into effect Friday. He succeeds Dan Decker, who is leaving the company.
