Update (7 p.m. Monday): Williamsburg-James City County Schools will be closed Tuesday; the closure’s effect on the exam schedule will be released Tuesday.
York County School Division students will have early release days Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Monday’s snow day disrupted an already shortened week for students in both Williamsburg-James City County Schools and York County School Division.
In both districts, Monday had been the only scheduled full day of school before exam week and teacher work days gave students early release and off days.
Both divisions announced adjustments for the current week.
Williamsburg-James City County Schools
WJCC Schools have changed Tuesday’s schedule to a regular school day for all students, with end-of-course high school retakes to take place that day.
If road conditions require the school day to begin later than normal Tuesday, an announcement will be made.
Tuesday had originally been slated as an early release day for middle and high school students. As previously scheduled, Wednesday will be an early release day for all students, and high school exams will be optional.
Thursday and Friday will remain a holiday for all students who do not choose to take a final exam.
For students who choose to take a final exam, Wednesday and Thursday will follow this schedule:
Wednesday
1st Block 7:20 – 9:15 a.m.
Break 9:15 – 9:30 a.m.
2nd Block 9:35 – 11:30 a.m.
Thursday
3rd Block 7:20 – 9:15 a.m.
Break 9:15 – 9:30 a.m.
4th Block 9:35 – 11:30 a.m.
Friday is a teacher work day and a holiday for all students. Professional development that had been scheduled for Friday is canceled.
York County School Division
York County originally scheduled Tuesday through Thursday as early release days for all students, and Friday as a student holiday.
With the adjustments because of Monday’s snow day, Tuesday will be a full day of school. The early release days have been shifted to Wednesday through Friday.
Exams will follow this schedule:
- Wednesday: Early dismissal schedule, 1A and 1B
- Thursday: Early dismissal schedule, 3A and 3B
- Friday: Early dismissal schedule, 4A and 4B
If the adjusted schedule poses a problem for a student, parents should contact the school’s principal.
