Belinda H. Willis has been named the new foundation liaison for the York County School Division, while former liaison Peggy Myatt is now the director of development and community relations for the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia.
Willis, a York County resident, was previously the chief of Children’s Services for York County, according to an announcement from the York Foundation for Public Education.
Her work managing the county’s Head Start program and services for at-risk families allowed her to regularly collaborate with the school division, the announcement states.
Myatt, also a York County resident, worked in special education before becoming the foundation liaison, according to an announcement from the Legal Aid Society. In her new role she will support the society’s work providing high-quality civil legal services to low-income and disadvantaged people in Eastern Virginia, including those in the Historic Triangle.
The York Foundation for Public Education was established in 1994 to strengthen public schools in York County. The foundation’s goals include awarding high-value grants that encourage innovation, improvement and achievement; increasing spending on student resources and development; awarding high-value scholarships for professional education and collaborating with community partners to increase revenues and resources to fulfill its mission, according to its website.
