York-Poquoson Commonwealth’s Attorney Ben Hahn has announced his support of Republican Chad Green for the District 3 seat on the York County Board of Supervisors, joining a growing roster of Republicans who endorse Green’s candidacy.
Hahn’s announcement comes on the heels of similar announcements from Del. Brenda Pogge (R-96), York-Poquoson Sheriff J.D. “Danny” Diggs and Don Wiggins, the man who currently holds the District 3 seat.
Wiggins announced in March he will not be seeking another term.
“I support Chad Green for election to the York County Board of Supervisors,” Hahn said in a news release. “Chad understands Virginia law and knows what it takes to maintain a safe community. I have no doubt that he will be a strong advocate of public safety on the Board of Supervisors and I hope you will vote for him.”
Green said he was honored to have Hahn’s support.
“If the voters select me to be their voice on the Board of Supervisors, I will work closely with Commonwealth’s Attorney Hahn to make sure York remains safe and secure,” he said in the news release.
Green, a Seaford resident, is a licensed attorney, a commercial waterman, a licensed captain and the author of the novel Crown & Cardinal, which is centered around Yorktown. He is due to face Chris Mollenkamp in a June 9 Republican primary, with the winner set to become the Republican candidate for the seat.
Green has run for political office in the past. He was unsuccessful in a contest against Wiggins in 2007. He also lost to Gordon Helsel in an election to represent the 91st District in the House of Delegates. District 3 encompasses Seaford, Edgehill and Yorktown.
