W&M Bomb Threat Not Credible, Authorities Say

A bomb threat emailed to several departments at the College of William & Mary on Sunday turned out not to be credible.

The initial threatening email was sent to an administrative office’s email account Sunday, and by Monday morning, three other departments at the college received the same email, according to Suzanne Seurattan, the director of news and media at the college.

The FBI and the W&M Police Department investigated the threats and deemed them not to be credible Wednesday, according to Sam Jones, an administrator with the college and the chairman of the emergency management team.

“Law enforcement continues to investigate the emails, but I wanted to let you know they have determined there is no threat to the university,” Jones said in an email to the W&M community.

He urged anyone who has received unusual or suspicious emails to call campus police at 757-221-4596.
