A Richmond-based bakery’s plans to expand to the City of Williamsburg have been suspended indefinitely following disagreements between the business partners behind it.
“We decided not to take it any farther,” Billy Bread Owner Billy Fallen said Wednesday. He declined to offer more details on the situation.
The planned expansion was effectively canceled by the end of December. He said it was unlikely the business would pursue opening a location in the city for the foreseeable future.
Fallen had originally announced plans for a Billy Bread bakery and restaurant at 1425 Richmond Road in August, with a planned opening by Thanksgiving 2014.
Fallen had said the “high-traffic” location along Richmond Road was an ideal spot to expand the bakery.
“That was probably the best chance for a restaurant-bakery [in Williamsburg],” Fallen said. “I’ve got a lot on my plate with the Richmond location.”
Billy Bread’s lone storefront is in Richmond. It sells food to restaurants in Williamsburg, including Fat Canary, Blue Talon Bistro, Sal’s by Victor, Second Street American Bistro and Mad About Chocolate.
