Local school divisions have started the task of scheduling makeup days after heavy snowfalls throughout the Historic Triangle led to a week of missed classes.
The York County School Division has scheduled Feb. 27 as a full makeup day, canceling what had originally been an early release day.
YCSD spokeswoman Katherine Goff said additional details on makeup days would be announced Monday.
“Recognizing that the division will need to make up additional time due to the unscheduled closings this week, we are still assessing the available options,” Goff said in an email. “We do want our staff, students and parents to know that we are committed to protecting Spring Break and Memorial Day.”
Williamsburg-James City County Schools have also announced new dates for activities postponed due to the snow. The WJCC School Board meeting originally scheduled for Feb. 17 will now be held March 3.
A Feb. 24 special call meeting on Superintendent Steve Constantino’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2016 has been canceled.
The public hearing on the proposed budget has been rescheduled for March 17, and adoption of the school division’s budget for FY 16 has been set for March 24.
