A 23-year-old woman died today from injuries that stem from a hit-and-run in York County last weekend.

The victim, Yorktown resident Alyssa Lynee Rhoades, was walking with a man southbound along Route 17 near Grafton Drive around 9:30 p.m. Sunday when they were struck by a vehicle, Sgt. Michelle Anaya with Virginia State Police said.

Both suffered major injuries and were taken to a local hospital, police said.

VSP was notified of Rhoades’ death at around 5 p.m. today.

“State Police is still aggressively investigating this hit and run accident,” said Anaya in a news release.

There is no available description of the car, nor has there been an update on the condition of the man who was walking with Rhoades.
