A 32-year-old woman accused of embezzling more than $5,000 from a local art gallery had several felony charges against her dropped Thursday.
Candace Buck faces one felony charge of embezzlement and one felony count of forging and uttering.
Authorities said the Williamsburg woman embezzled more than $5,000 from This Century Art Gallery, located in Merchants Square, between November 2013 and June 2014.
The manager of the gallery reported the incident in July and told police Buck was a former employee.
A grand jury will now be presented with evidence and will decide whether to move the case forward to trial.
In certifying the two felony charges to a grand jury, eight felony counts of forgery and nine felony counts of uttering were dropped against Buck.
Buck was released from Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail on a $2,000 bond, according to court records.
