The following government offices and businesses will be closed for the New Year’s holiday:
James City County
- James City County offices, the James City County Recreation Center and Abram Frink Jr. Community Center, all county convenience centers, the garbage transfer station and public libraries will be closed New Year’s Day.
- The Williamsburg-James City County courthouse will be closed Thursday and Friday.
York County
- The Virginia Cooperative Extension will be closed Thursday and Friday.
- County offices, the York-Poquoson Social Services, Waste Management Center administrative offices and York County libraries will be closed on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
- York-Poquoson Circuit Court will be closed New Year’s Eve through Jan. 5.
- York-Poquoson General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court will close at noon New Year’s Eve and reopen Jan. 5.
- The transfer station and recycling drop-off facility and the VPPSA compost facility will be closed on New Year’s Day.
- There will be no curbside garbage or recycling collection Thursday. All garbage and recycling normally collected on Thursday will be move to Friday, and Friday’s collections will be moved to Saturday.
Williamsburg
- City offices, Waller Mill Park and the Quarterpath Recreation Center will be closed on New Year’s Day.
Virginia Peninsula Public Service Authority
- Recycling normally scheduled for Thursday will be collected Friday, and recycling normally collected on Friday will be collected Saturday.
- Thomas Nelson Community College: The college’s Williamsburg and Hampton campuses will be closed from Christmas Eve until Jan. 5.
