A drive-through Taco Bell will join Lowe’s, Starbucks and Chick-fil-A near Mooretown Road.

The York County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday night to approve the 1,933-square-foot fast-food restaurant that will be built on a 1.34-acre parcel of land in the Cedar Valley Shopping Center at the intersection of Mooretown Road and East Rochambeau Drive.

Zoned economic opportunity, the area is packed with commercial businesses, including two home improvement stores, several fast-food and sit-down restaurants, a Walmart and two banks.

The entrance of the restaurant will connect to the Lowe’s parking lot, and a large free-standing sign for Taco Bell will face East Rochambeau Drive.

BurgerBusters Inc, the company that operates the Taco Bell franchise, had to go through the county before beginning work on the restaurant because the area, zoned economic opportunity, requires a special-use permit for all fast-food restaurants.

Don Curry, president of the engineering firm responsible for the development, said the firm is working on site design and expects to submit site plans to York’s planning staff for approval in the next week. He expects the Taco Bell to open by summer 2015.

There are four Taco Bell restaurants currently in the Historic Triangle. One is located off Richmond Road, another is located in the Williamsburg Crossing shopping center off John Tyler Highway, the third is by the Village Shops of Kingsmill off Pocahontas Trail and the fourth is in Lower York County in the Washington Square shopping center off Route 17.
