An early-morning fire in the Port Myers subdivision of Seaford left a vacant, for-sale home with nothing left.
Investigators are still determining the cause of the fire in the 100 block of Benjamins Court, which was reported around 3:30 a.m. Monday. Firefighters from York County and Newport News arrived within minutes to find the house fully engulfed in flames, Assistant Chief Paul Long with the York County Fire Department said.
It took nearly two hours for firefighters to put out the flames at the 5,013-square-foot, two-story home.
By 5:15 a.m., the fire was out. Long said there was no calculated value of damage from the fire. “It was a total loss,” he said.
According to an online listing, the home had been for sale since mid-April, with a drop in asking price to $525,000 posted earlier this month.
Investigators and firefighters will remain on the scene throughout the day to determine the cause of the fire, Long said.
