A Yorktown man arrested in May after being accused of taking indecent liberties with a 14-year-old girl pleaded guilty Thursday.
Gordon T. Hammersley, 32, was arrested May 20 after a woman told the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office she and Hammersley had several sexual encounters between November 2009 and June 2012, when she was around 14 years old.
Hammersley is a former tennis instructor who was giving the girl weekly tennis lessons, according to a complaint filed against him in York-Poquoson Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
The complaint revealed the woman told investigators Hammersley raped her once at his apartment in Newport News.
The woman also said Hammersley had her perform oral sex on him in his car four times a week in an Upper York County subdivision when he came to pick her up for tennis lessons.
The complaint states Hammersley admitted to having the victim perform oral sex on him seven times in his car while in her neighborhood. He also he had consensual sex with her in his apartment and knew she was 15 at the time.
He pleaded guilty Thursday to two felony counts of taking indecent liberties by a person in a custodial or supervisory relationship. Five of the same counts were dropped during a July preliminary hearing.
Hammersley will be sentenced in York-Poquoson Circuit Court at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 5.
