A 52-year-old James City County woman is facing an attempted robbery charge after police say she tried to rob an acquaintance of prescription pain pills by concealing a staple gun concealed beneath a towel and saying it was a gun.
Deputy Chief Stephen Rubino of the James City County Police Department said Alma Lockley Strong went to a residence on the 100 block of Williamson Drive in the Forest Glen subdivision off Centerville Road at about noon Wednesday.
Strong encountered a 48-year-old woman she knew at the residence who was putting Percocet pills, a prescription pain reliever, into a container. Rubino said Strong held an object in a towel and said it was a gun and demanded she give her Percocet pills. The woman fled from the house on foot.
The item beneath the towel was later determined to be a staple gun. Police responded and arrested Strong on Wednesday, charging her with one felony count of attempted robbery.
Rubino said Strong did not get any pills.
