The York County School Board has approved two new assistant principals and two transfers of assistant principals within the division.
Darlene Graham will serve as the assistant principal at Yorktown Middle School. She previously served as an instructional specialist at the school board office and has experience teaching middle school social studies in Norfolk and Hampton. Graham replaces Aaron Butler, who resigned.
Queens Lake Middle School’s assistant principal, Paul Rice, is transferring to York High School. Geofrilyn Walker, an English teacher who most recently served as lead teacher at Warwick High School in Newport News, will take the assistant principal’s job.
Doug Hartley, who most recently served as assistant principal at York High School, is moving to Grafton Middle School to serve as assistant principal. Hartley, who has also served as an assistant principal at Tabb High school in the past, will replace Lisa Ruffieux, who is taking over the principal’s job at Grafton Bethel Elementary School.
The moves were made at a Monday school board special meeting.
