The James City County Planning Commission Policy Committee will resume consideration of allowing backyard chickens in a larger portion of the county at a meeting Monday.
The committee will resume a March discussion about a draft ordinance to allow backyard chickens in one additional residential district of the county. The ordinance would allow residents to keep a maximum of 12 hens and no roosters in their backyards. A discussion about changing the county ordinance relating to accessory apartments will also be resumed.
The committee will meet at 3 p.m. Monday in Building D at 101 Mounts Bay Road. The meeting will be open to the public and the agenda is available online. For more information, contact the county planning division at 757-253-6685 or email [email protected].
