Three juveniles were arrested by the College of William & Mary Police Department on Wednesday night after police say they tried to rob a student walking on Yates Path behind the Student Health Center.
The student was walking along the path at about 11:30 p.m. when he was approached by four males, all of whom appeared to be juveniles. They pushed and shoved the student and attempted to rob him — no weapon was displayed — before the entire group ran away. A William & Mary police officer who was nearby responded, and officers were able to arrest three suspects, according to a message sent to the William & Mary community by Vice President for Student Affairs Ginger Ambler.
The student was not harmed.
Police are still seeking to identify a fourth suspect, though they do not have enough information to provide an accurate description. Anyone who saw anything suspicious on campus Wednesday night or who has any other information about the attempted robbery is asked to contact the William & Mary Police Department at 221-4596.
Ambler encouraged students, faculty and staff to be mindful of their surroundings and to remember the university has a campus escort service available in the evenings. Contact that service at 221-3293.
