Deputies in York County were busy this week with calls for service at county schools while James City County Police arrested a man accused of credit card theft in August.

Deputies Respond to Incidents at County Schools
The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office had a busy day with calls at schools Jan. 2.
Deputies responded to Bruton High School after an investigation there by the principal and student resource officer into smoking in the bathroom found a student with a knife in his backpack.
That student, 18-year-old Kevin W. McCummings, was charged with having a weapon on school property.
Deputies also went to Yorktown Middle School after the principal there was told another student had a gun in his pocket. A student was found to have a BB gun and two knives in his or her possession. Charges are pending against that student.
A 9-year-old student at Coventry Elementary School is also facing charges after he or she brought a knife to school.
A student told the principal there that he or she saw the student showing the knife to other students. The knife was recovered and the student was sent home.
Sheriff’s Office Releases Photo of Suspected Credit Card Thief
The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man believed to have stolen a credit card from a vehicle on the 100 block of Cybernetics Way in York County on Oct. 26.
On Oct. 28, the credit card was used at the Tabb Wal-Mart to buy more than $100 in merchandise.
Anyone with information on the man’s identity is asked to call Crime Line at 888-LOCK-U-UP (888-562-5887).
James City County
Four Charged with Stealing Credit Card
Three people are facing charges after they allegedly stole a purse and wallet from an unlocked vehicle and then using a credit card from the wallet at a York County Wal-Mart.
Maj. Stephen Rubino of the James City County Police Department said the offenses occurred Aug. 5 and 6. After the wallet and purse were stolen from the vehicle on the 500 block of Spring Trace in James City County, the four are accused of taking it to the Wal-Mart in Tabb on George Washington Memorial Highway (Route 17).
Once at the Wal-Mart, almost $500 in charges were placed on the credit card.
Charges have been filed against 18-year-old Tyler David Arguello — who was 17 when the offense was alleged to have occurred — and three others: 19-year-old Hampton resident Shaila Marie Brown, 18-year-old Newport News resident Nicholas Warren Bryant and a 16-year-old Newport News girl.
Arguello, who was arrested Dec. 30, is facing two felony counts of credit card theft, one felony count of larceny by false pretenses, one felony count of conspiracy to commit larceny and two misdemeanor counts of larceny by false pretenses.
Brown and Bryant are each facing multiple felony charges, though the exact charges have yet to be set.
