Republican Brenda Pogge has been re-elected to represent the 96th District in the Virginia House of Delegates.

The 96th District encompasses much of York County as well as the western part of James City County, including Stonehouse, Jamestown, Norge and Toano. It also includes a small portion of Newport News.

Pogge, a James City County resident who has been in the House of Delegates since 2008, ran unopposed as she did in 2011 and 2009. She picked up 21,627 votes on Tuesday, good for 92.08 percent of the total votes cast. The remaining 1,861 votes were for write-in candidates.

When she ran unopposed in 2011, she collected 94.49 percent of the vote, though 5.5 percent of voters — 737 total people — wrote in a person instead of voting for Pogge.

She sits on the following House committees: Health Welfare and Institutions; Agriculture, Chesapeake and Natural Resources; Education; and Finance. According to her website, she worked as a realtor prior to joining the General Assembly.

“For over twenty years, Brenda has worked tirelessly on behalf of conservative causes and candidates,” according to the front page of her website. “As a longtime activist, Delegate Pogge understands firsthand the need for conservative fiscal and social leadership in Richmond. A champion of limited government and fiscal responsibility, Brenda consistently endorses commonsense, pro-family legislation.”
