Retro Daddio celebrated its grand opening ceremony with a ribbon cutting Wednesday.

Jen Thurman opened Retro Daddio in 2010 with the dream of one day opening a brick-and-mortar store. Thurman’s dream was realized earlier this month as she opened Retro Daddio at 5100 Main St. in New Town.

Thurman sells retro and nostalgic items such as Marilyn Monroe purses, Beatles playing cards and various cards and jewelry.

On Wednesday Thurman was joined by James City County Supervisors John McGlennon (Roberts), Jim Icenhour (Jamestown) and Greater Williamsburg Chamber and Tourism Alliance Membership Director Tiffany Phillips for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“It’s a pleasure to welcome another new business to the vibrant New Town area. I expect Retro Daddio to find great success with its eclectic offerings of nostalgia,” McGlennon said in a news release.

Icenhour said in a release, “Retro Daddio’s is a trip down memory lane for us seniors, and an interesting educational experience for younger folks. It is a really neat addition to our community.”
