A home healthcare worker was arrested in James City County on Oct. 2 after she allegedly used the check card of her 69-year-old patient who suffers from dementia to make purchases and pay her own bills that amounted to more than $2,000.
Maj. Stephen Rubino of the James City County Police Department said 47-year-old Jacqueline Marie Jones allegedly used the check card between Sept. 1 and 15. The victim’s daughter, who has power of attorney, noticed the suspicious charges and reported them to police. Nothing has been recovered from Jones.
Jones is also alleged to have tried to apply for a credit card using the victim’s personal information. Jones faces two felony charges of credit card fraud and one charge of misdemeanor attempt to commit identity fraud. The victim was living in the Kristiansand subdivision in Norge.
Jones is scheduled to appear in court at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 22.
