Crews from the Virginia Department of Transportation will close Lakeside Drive between Beechwood Drive and Bailey Road to through traffic this weekend.
The closure is so crews can install concrete sewer pipe as part of the Lakeside Drive Improvement Project. Residents who live in the area will be able to access their homes at all times. Detours will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Signs will be in place to warn drivers of the work, which is dependent upon weather conditions. Parts of Lakeside Drive have been closed to through traffic on weekends for more than a month as crews work on the project.
The detour is as follows:
Westbound traffic on Lakeside Drive:
Turn left onto Showalter Road
Turn right onto Ella Taylor Road
Follow to George Washington Memorial Highway (Route 17)
Eastbound traffic on Lakeside Drive:
Take Route 17 to Ella Taylor Road
Turn left onto Showalter Road
Follow to Lakeside Drive
