Two men were arrested Monday after James City County Police were able to use DNA evidence extracted from beer cans to connect them to a January break-in at BASF Chemicals on Pocahontas Trail.
Maj. Stephen Rubino of the James City County Police Department said 31-year-old Peter Brian Amundsen and 23-year-old Dalton Charles Snead have been charged with burglary and felony property damage after they allegedly broke into a building at BASF Chemicals on the 8900 block of Pocahontas Trail sometime between Jan. 11 and 14, where they proceeded to break windows, discharge fire extinguishers, break lights and destroy walls.

Beer was found at the scene that was sent to the Crime Lab. The lab was able to identify Amundsen via DNA, which led to the arrests. A third person who police believe was present at the scene has been charged, though he is out of state and has not been arrested.
