Crews from the Virginia Department of Transportation will close Lakeside Drive between Carraway Terrace and Bailey Drive in York County to through traffic Saturday.
Clearing operations will be underway from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday to prepare for construction of the Lakeside Drive improvement project. During that time, traffic will be detoured to Ella Taylor Drive from George Washington Memorial Highway (Route 17). Signs will be in place to alert motorists of the detour.
In the event of inclement weather, crews will work Sunday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.
The Lakeside Drive Improvement project is designed to improve traffic flow on the road along a 1-mile stretch. Contractors will add left and right turn lanes and curbing along that stretch.
