The Virginia State Police partnered last week with local, state and federal law enforcement, arresting 58 fugitives on the peninsula, including 26 in Williamsburg, Poquoson and York and James City counties.
Operation Street Sweeper 2013 saw no incidents arising during arrests, which yielded 21 felonies and 59 misdemeanor charges, according to Sgt. Michelle Anaya of the Virginia State Police.
The Williamsburg Police Department, the James City County Police Department and the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office were all involved in the three-day operation. Other agencies that were involved include the Hampton Police Department, the Newport News Police Department, the Poquoson Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Chesapeake Field Office.
