A James City Service Authority project to replace an old water main will result in lane closures starting this week.
About 2,600 linear feet of water main along Jamestown Road is being replaced. Jamestown Road and Neck O Land Road will have periodic closures, which began Monday.
In September 2012, JCSA advertised for bids to replace the pipes because they were reaching the end of their life cycle. The project was originally estimated to cost about $800,000 but came up with about a $673,000 price tag. The funds were appropriated in the fall of 2011 and came from JCSA’s Capital Improvements Budget.
The project runs along Jamestown Road from about the intersection of Ironbound and Jamestown Roads, and running to the intersection of Jamestown and Neck-O-Land roads.
