Colonial Williamsburg is ramping up its summer programming to make an effortlessly fun experience for first-time and repeat visitors.
RevQuest: The Black Chambers
The next chapter in the RevQuest interactive text message game requires participants to identify a threat to American Liberty and save the Revolution. Interpreter interaction, code deciphering and unlocking clues lead participants to the answers they seek.
Revolutionary City
Revolutionary City begins its expanded program June 17, offering three daily interactive programs.
At 10 a.m., “Storming the Palace” takes place on the Palace Green as townspeople demand the colony’s gunpowder be returned to them.
At 1 p.m., “Declarations of Independence” at the Capitol stirs debate of the phrase “all men are created equal.”
At 5 p.m., “On to Yorktown and Victory” on the Market Square Green encourages guests to join the militia.
More than 15 interpreters are being added to the Revolutionary City to interact with guests and keep them informed of activities scheduled.
Tavern Programs
The taverns are becoming a bigger part of Revolutionary City with programs at mealtimes throughout the day.
At a “Revolutionary Breakfast”, guests will learn the news of the day. “Tea with Mrs. Campbell” allows guests to join in a story and song. “High Life Below Stairs” highlights a three-course dinner with a story of a wealthy man who thinks his servants are eating and drinking away his money.
Hotel Guest Advantages
Guests staying at official Colonial Williamsburg Hotels will be given free access to one evening program per guest, per stay as well as special tours of the Capitol and an exclusive hands-on activity at a different trade shop each day.
Hotel guests can also access the Fun Zone, which has games, puzzles and events like storytelling and cookie decorating.
Woodlands guests can attend pool parties and play shuffleboard and putt putt golf.
This summer, kids stay, play and eat free at the Woodlands.
Tickets
A Colonial Williamsburg admission ticket provides access to all programming, including RevQuest. Tickets are available online.
Advertising
The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation has enlisted The Martin Agency in Richmond to create its new advertisements.
Two new commercials are running now, focusing on the idea that Colonial Williamsburg stays with guests even after they leave. View the commercials on YouTube by clicking here and here.
