Four $10,000 Decades of Dollars lottery tickets in Virginia were drawn Monday night, with one of the winning tickets sold at a 7-Eleven in James City County.
The 7-Eleven at 7302 Pocahontas Trail sold the winning ticket, according to the lottery’s Facebook page. The winning numbers are 3-6-12-16-35-38, and the winning ticket matched five of those numbers.
“I haven’t heard anything about it,” said Rebecca Hodges, a sales associate at the 7-Eleven. “We’ve had some $1,000 and $500 winners on scratch outs, but nothing that big.”
Hodges said Cash 5, Mega Millions, Win For Life and Powerball are the big sellers at the store. She estimated that around 100 Decades of Dollars tickets are sold per week.
When you purchase one of the $2 tickets, you choose six separate numbers between 1 and 47. If you match all six numbers, you win $250,000 per year for 30 years, or a lump sum payment of $4,000,000, according to the Virginia Lottery’s website. Five matches gets you $10,000, four gets you $100, three gets you $10 and two gets you a free ticket.
The other winning tickets were sold in Mechanicsville, Richmond and Montpelier.
