Early Friday morning, a York-Poquoson Sheriff’s deputy discovered the body of a man in a burning vehicle on I-64’s exit 243B (the exit for Busch Gardens). Investigators are treating the case as a homicide.
Around 12:15 a.m. Friday, a deputy saw smoke coming from the area of I-64 West at the exit for Busch Gardens and found a vehicle on fire on the exit, according to a news release from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Department. When firefighters put out the fire, they discovered a man’s body inside, according to the news release.
The investigation has resulted in the closure of both the west- and eastbound 243B exits. It is unclear when the exits will re-open.
