Planning Commission Invites Comment on Capital Improvements
The Williamsburg Planning Commission will host a public hearing on the five-year Capital Improvement Program at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Stryker Building.
Citizens are invited to share their ideas of capital improvements to include in the city’s five-year plan, which dictates when and where infrastructure and building improvements will take place.
Planning Commission will also consider a request to allow grading on slopes in excess of 30 percent to allow construction of a new single-family dwelling at 201 Burns Lane. The final decision will be made by City Council.
For more information, contact the Planning Department at (757) 220-6130.
Budget Retreat Scheduled for Saturday
City Council will begin the process to draft the 2014 budget with a retreat at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Municipal Building, located at 401 Lafayette Street.
Council will meet later this year in its annual joint meeting with James City County’s Board of Supervisors and the Williamsburg-James City County School Board (date to be determined). The Neighborhood Council of Williamsburg will also host a budget discussion later this year.
City Council aims to adopt the budget at its May 9 meeting.
Citizens will be able to share input on what must stay in the budget and where they believe the city can trim costs here.
