This year’s interfaith New Year’s Eve service at historic Bruton Parish Episcopal Church will begin at 4 p.m. and feature a theme to repair community during a time of negative news in many media.
The Williamsburg Clergy Fellowship organizes the service, at which several denominations will be represented. The Rev. Tom Mainor from Williamsburg Presbyterian Church will preach on “A Time To Build Up” and Dr. H. Edwin Godshall, Jr. will play the organ. The program will also note the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation, which President Abraham Lincoln issued on Jan. 1, 1863.
The event will be posted on the Bruton gate and, while often attended by Colonial Williamsburg visitors, is open to residents and their houseguests.
