Navy Security Force members and emergency responders from the City of Newport News will conduct an active shooter and hostage drill today at the Fleet and Family Support Center Yorktown in off-base housing, Hamilton Redoubt.
The drill is set up to test integration between military personnel and civilians. Area residents have been notified of the drill.
Exercises like this one are performed annually to better prepare first responders and security personnel for a range of possible events.
