A stolen tractor-trailer rig, the mascot of a local breast health group, was recovered in an industrial park on Saturday evening about 10 miles away from where it where it had been reported missing the day before.
The truck, which the breast health nonprofit Beyond Boobs! calls Ma-am O’Gram, is a black 2012 Peterbuilt 389 Model tractor trailer with pink racing stripes that has been driving 60,000 miles around the country this year to help spread the nonprofit’s message on the importance of breast health awareness. The truck was stolen from an industrial park in Kearny, New Jersey, sometime between noon and 5 p.m. on Friday, and was recovered on Saturday at 5 p.m. in an industrial park in Jersey City, New Jersey, where it had been abandoned.
Beyond Boobs! cofounder Rene Bowditch said two different truckers who had seen the nonprofit’s posts about the missing rig on the Truckers Against Trafficking Facebook page reported seeing her and they both called the sightings in at about the same time, leading police to find the truck.
Police will keep the truck impounded until Monday; Bowditch said she is unsure of its condition.
“We want to thank all the Beyond Boobs! FB friends and trucking FB friends (especially those Truckers Against Trafficking who must be used to looking for taken girls) and media who spread the word and her photo resulting in Ma’am being found,” Bowditch said. “Thank you so much!”
