WILLIAMSBURG — Williamsburg City Council will consider parking changes, transportation projects, financial updates and several contracts when it meets Thursday.
Why it matters: Council will receive its June financial report after questions last month about whether meals tax revenue would meet budget projections before the close of the fiscal year.
On the agenda:
- The Excellence in Service to Williamsburg Award for Maureen Reider of the Williamsburg Human Services Department.
- Announcement of the winner of the city’s 2026 “I Voted” sticker design contest for students in select Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools.
- Three public hearings:
- Reducing off-street parking requirements near the transportation center to comply with state law.
- A long-term license agreement with Seven Hills Restaurant.
- Support for applications for improvements at Route 199 and Route 5 and Route 199 and Brookwood Drive.
- The June financial report, which shows meals tax collections at 88% of budget after a year-to-date rate adjustment, up 0.8% from the same point last year. At this time in fiscal 2025, collections stood at 92% of budget.
- New business, including:
- Authorizing up to $27 million in refunding bonds.
- A license agreement for 26 parking spaces on and adjacent to the Northington Parking Terrace.
- The eighth amended charter agreement for the Hampton Roads Workforce Council.
- Renewal of the city’s Microsoft 365 subscription, which is already included in the approved budget.
- A proposed cash-payment rounding procedure.
The meeting: 2 p.m. Thursday, July 9, at the Stryker Center, 412 N. Boundary St.
