WILLIAMSBURG — The City of Williamsburg announced it is changing how residents are billed for water and sewer services.

Monthly Billing

According to the city, the utility billing office will switch from quarterly to monthly billing.

  • In July, customers will receive a transition bill
  • Starting in August, all customers will receive a water bill once a month
  • The due date will be changed to 21 days after the bill date
  • If enrolled in AutoPay, payments will be drafted monthly on the 20th.
Rate Change

The Fiscal Year 2026 Adopted Budget includes a water rate change for all customers.

  • The new water rate increases to $6.89 per 1,000 gallons for city residents and
businesses and $8.27 per 1,000 gallons for customers outside the city limits.
  • The new rate will be reflected on the monthly bill in August.
Sewer Billing

The City of Williamsburg utility bill previously included the Hampton Roads Sanitation District charges for wastewater treatment. HRSD will now send a separate bill monthly, the city said.

  • Customers will begin receiving a separate HRSD bill in August.
  • The City of Williamsburg utility bill will include only water charges.
