YORK COUNTY — An instructor at Tabb High School was arrested Monday after authorities said he was found intoxicated on campus.
A social media post from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said the school resource officer was notified by school officials that an employee, Jeremy Venske, was possibly intoxicated while working inside the school. After locating him, the officer found him intoxicated, the post stated.
Venske is an NJROTC instructor at Tabb High School; NJROTC is short for Naval Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps. The program’s website states that the curriculum emphasizes citizenship and leadership development, as well as maritime heritage, the significance of sea power and naval topics.
The Sheriff’s Office charged Venske with public intoxication.
In a statement provided to 13News Now, the school division said: “We are appreciative of the staff members who recognized a potential concern and reported it immediately to school administrators this morning. Their awareness and prompt action allowed school and law enforcement personnel to respond quickly and appropriately.”
