Annual Yorktown Art Stroll Returns for 11th Year

(Provided by York County)

YORKTOWN — The 11th Annual Yorktown Art Stroll returns to the Freight Shed on Riverwalk Landing Sunday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Visitors can expect to find a wide range of art ranging from paintings to glass created by over 50 regional artists, according to a press release from York County Public Affairs. The public is invited to visit the artists and learn more about their inspiration, as well as participate in an annual community painting — a blank canvas will be set out for attendees to complete.

The display of talent will extend up the hill onto Historic Main Street, where the On the Hill Gallery will feature a unique collection of new artists, according to the county. The Gallery at York Hall will feature historian Chris Bonin’s Revolutionary War artwork, and a book signing for his work “Virginia in the War of 1812” is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There will also be a special music performance on the Riverwalk Landing stage from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. by Audio Portrait, an acoustic harmony trio that covers songs from the 1960s through today.

Local restaurants will also be open both during and after the event, and tickets will be available to purchase for a sunset sail on the York River on the homeported tall ship, the schooner “Alliance.”

Free parking is available at the Riverwalk Landing Parking Terrace, York Hall, York-Poquoson Courthouse, County Administration Building, and other designated public parking lots in town. The Yorktown Trolley will start its run early that morning to provide complimentary service from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine and is free to the public.

Additional information and a list of participating artists can be found on the York County official website.
