As the Wiliamsburg Volunteer Fire Department approaches this much anticipated spring season, the men and women of the WVFD are embarking on our annual Fund Drive to help better serve you and the entire community.
WVFD’s request to you is simple. They are respectfully asking that you make a donation today, to the Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Department. Your tax-deductible donation helps First Responders serve you. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, WVFD depends greatly on private donations as our primary source of funding. 100% of your donation is used to operate the Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Department.
Please Note: To help minimize confusion and mitigate any possible scams, any solicitation by telephone or requesting funds to be mailed to any address other than the address above, is not a request from the Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Department (WVFD). Any other solicitations in any form are not from WVFD and donations made to these organizations will not benefit the WVFD.
History: The WVFD has been providing continuous service to our community since 1754. In addition to supplementing the career men and women of the department, with responding to emergency calls, their volunteers also participate in training, re-certification programs, and conduct fund raising activities each year. Today, the WVFD is comprised of approximately 30 members, from business professionals to homemakers, and military veterans to William & Mary students. Their dedicated members are certified as Firefighters, Emergency Medical Technicians, and Paramedics. Their goal is to provide firefighting and emergency medical services to our entire community each and every day. The time and expertise given by each volunteer is possible because of the generous financial support they receive from the community each year.
A Look Back on 2017: In 2017, their department responded to 4138 fire and medical emergencies. Their volunteers contributed over 6180 hours of their time and expertise to the community by pulling duty, responding to calls, and training. All at no cost to the City of Williamsburg. Thanks to the donations we received last year, they not only provided training and personal protective equipment for their volunteers, but they also were able to stock their three advanced life support ambulances with the best possible medical supplies and equipment.
Looking Ahead in 2018: This year their spending priorities remain simple yet integral to the operation of the WVFD. They need your financial support to help keep their First Responders trained and equipped to respond to emergencies. Additionally, a new Advanced Life Support ambulance has been added to their fleet, bringing the total of ambulances up to four. They will continue to stock all four ambulances with the same supplies. Every dollar donated to the WVFD is utilized to purchase supplies and equipment and to provide the training needed to best serve you.
Did you Know: It costs $1,400.00 to outfit one EMT or Paramedic in protective clothing and $3,100.00 to outfit one firefighter. A stretcher system for an ambulance is $42,000.00 and a heart defibrillator is $35,000.00.
Please help today by making a tax-deductible donation to the WVFD. Donations can be sent to their organization in the self-addressed envelope provided or via PayPal by simply visiting our website at www.WilliamsburgFireDepartment.com.
