Northwestern Mutual today announced it has promoted Tracy Shackelford, a Financial Advisor with the firm, to Managing Director of its district office serving the Peninsula.
As Managing Director, Shackelford will be responsible for recruitment, running their college internship program and leading her team of financial advisors through the Virginia Peninsula area.
In her new role, Shackelford will focus on recruiting new financial representatives in communities that need the resources the most. With a passion for helping people in transition, Shackelford will focus on engaging and educating women, Veterans and college athletes on the benefits and ease of joining the financial industry and make sure Northwestern Mutual is an inclusive place for everyone. This year, she plans to have four students in the internship program. Shackelford joined Northwestern Mutual in January 2011 as a Financial Advisor where she specialized in helping women in transition. She is a 1985 graduate of Gloucester High School and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies from the University of Virginia in 1989 and holds her Series 6, 63 and 65. Outside of work, Shackelford is on the board of the local Alumni Association for the University of Virginia, Hampton Roads Academy, Impact 100 – Virginia Peninsula and the Hospice House and Support Care of Williamsburg, VA. She is married to Harold Philipsen and has two children.
