The John Clayton Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant society began their March 15 meeting at the Yorktown Library by honoring Boy Scout Troop 103 with the John Clayton Community Service Award. This is the seventh year the troop has assisted with the native plant sale in Williamsburg. The scouts work hard, directing parking and moving plants, boxes, and carts to wherever they are needed. The plant sale would be much more difficult to accomplish without their help. The scouts aren’t just moving the plants around, however. Eagle Scout Charles Krohn, who accepted the award for the troop, said that over time, the scouts have been learning the plants, and some may continue to pursue this interest further. It’s a partnership both organizations want to keep strong.
