What is your pet’s name?
Cyrus
What is the breed of your pet?
Persian cat
How was your pet’s name chosen?
Our Cyrus was named after Cyrus the Great, the first king of ancient Persia who established the world’s first charter of human rights. Cyrus the Great freed the slaves, declared that all people had the right to choose their own religion, and established racial equality. These rights and other decrees were recorded on a baked-clay cylinder known today as the Cyrus Cylinder. It is translated into all six official languages of the United Nations and its provisions parallel the first four Articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Cyrus is a worthy namesake for our little king!
Does your pet have a favorite walking route, etc.? What is it and why?
Cyrus loves to be out in the front yard or just about anywhere he’s not permitted to roam free; He is a true liberty risk! He walks well on a leash, but on longer walks through our neighborhood, we put him in the pet stroller, and he greets passerby with a tail shutter.
What is your pet’s favorite food or treat?
He just loves tuna. Crack open the can and wherever he is, he comes running and is very vocal.
Does your pet have a pet peeve? If so, what is it?
He despises tail brushing. When he is out lounging in the backyard, that tail picks up leaves, twigs, and bugs, so it’s inevitable the peeve surfaces!
If your pet could speak, what would be its favorite word and why?
Pet me! Cyrus likes to meow in the wee hours of the morning for his belly rub. He’ll jump up and belt out a meow that startles you awake… If you happen to fall back asleep during the petting, he’ll gently rub is whiskers in your face till you are petting him again. He’s worth our tired eyes!
