This fall, guests learn how the 18th-century capital town of Williamsburg also was a 19th-century battleground for the Civil War.

The program, “Women of Civil War Williamsburg,” explores how Williamsburg endured hardship and loss as a result of a battle outside the town and three years of military occupation. This one-hour walking tour offers a closer look at the impact of the Civil War on the lives of the women of Williamsburg at 7 p.m., 7:20 p.m., 7:40 p.m., 8:20 p.m., 8:40 p.m. and 9 p.m. Mondays through Nov. 19 at the Courthouse. This evening program is $14 for adults and youth ages six to 17 and $7 for children under six.
“Un-Civil Harmony: Music of the Civil War” offers insight into how the Civil War shook our nation and tore us apart. Guests hear the stories and music of when Williamsburg and America were at war. This one-hour program is presented at 7 and 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Oct. 3-Nov. 21. Admission is $16 for adults and youth and $8 for children under six.
“Williamsburg Civil War Tour” explains how the old colonial capital of Williamsburg played an important part in the American Civil War. Join in a tour of the major Civil War sites of the town, meet people who were here and learn more about Williamsburg’s role in this heart-rending period of American history. The tour will take place at 7 p.m., 7:20 p.m., 7:40 p.m., 8:20 p.m., 8:40 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Fridays, Oct. 5 through Nov. 16 at the Courthouse. This evening program is $14 for adults and youth ages six to 17 and $7 for children under six.
Through the program, “Mrs. Durfey and the Civil War,” guests join Mrs. Durfey, a resident of Williamsburg during the Civil War, as she entertains a friendly enemy in 1862. This event will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesdays, Oct. 10-24 at Bassett Hall. Admission is included in all Colonial Williamsburg admission passes.
