YORK COUNTY— Deputies with the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle crash at about 11:30 p.m. March 21 at the intersection of Big Bethel Road and Hampton Highway.
Upon arrival, deputies determined the crash involved a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle. The motorcycle operator, Tyrie Kyliel Hackett, 26, of Hampton, was killed in the crash.
The Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team investigated the incident. Following the investigation, authorities arrested the driver of the passenger vehicle.
Michael Albert Montoya, 19, of Norfolk, is charged with driving under the influence, involuntary manslaughter and reckless driving for speeds exceeding 100 mph.
Montoya is being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
