
SEAFORD — Firefighters responded to a commercial structure fire at a Dominion Energy property in the Seaford area of York County early Thursday morning.
According to the York County Department of Fire and Life Safety, personnel were dispatched to a commercial structure fire in the 1600 block of Waterview Road at approximately 5:50 a.m. Dec. 31. The property is owned by Dominion Energy, and the fire was in a vacant office building on the site, officials said. Upon arrival at the scene, Fire and Life Safety crews encountered smoke and flames on the third floor of the building.
Once the fire was extinguished, crews worked to ensure there was no chance of reignition.
Mutual aid assistance was provided by Langley AFB Fire Department and Abingdon Fire, officials said. Fire station backfill was provided by Newport News Fire Department and Hampton Fire and Rescue.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries.
