YORK COUNTY — A man from North Carolina was recently arrested for the attempted abduction and assault of a child at Great Wolf Lodge, according to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said on July 15, deputies responded to Great Wolf Lodge, located in the 500 block of Rochambeau Drive, for the attempted abduction and assault of a 7-year-old child that had occurred earlier that day.

Officials said deputies spoke with the family of the child and the staff of the Great Wolf Lodge and were told that a male suspect had attempted to lure the child from the area of the pool, and when the child attempted to walk away, the suspect prevented the child from leaving. The suspect left the area of the pool after the incident.

Sheriff’s Office deputies viewed video from Great Wolf Lodge and were able to identify the suspect, a guest at the resort. The suspect, 46-year-old Travis Andrew Bright, of Greenville, North Carolina, was located and arrested.

Bright is currently charged with a felony count of abduction and a misdemeanor count of assault and battery. He is currently housed in the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
