Weekend Sporting Event to Impact Multiple County Parks and Roadways in James City County

JAMES CITY COUNTY — James City County announced the Cal Tri Williamsburg Olympic and Cal Tri Williamsburg Sprint Triathlons taking place on Sunday, July 20 may cause delays on county roadways.

According to the county, motorists may encounter delays on:

  • Jamestown Road
  • Greensprings Road
  • Route 5 (John Tyler Highway)

Motorists are asked to use caution, follow traffic signs and watch for pedestrians and event participants.

Several County parks and trails will also be impacted by the event, the county added. The cycling, running and swimming events will be held at Jamestown Beach Event Park, along Greensprings Interpretive Trail, Powhatan Creek Trail and the Virginia Capital Trail from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The beachfront park, trails and off-leash dog area will remain open to the public during the event; however, the county said beach visitors and trail users should expect heavy swimming, cycling and running traffic and should be alert for race participants passing.
