WILLIAMSBURG— Williamburg-James City County Schools are celebrating tons of students achievements.

Warhill High School Student Earns Prestigious Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Scholarship
Warhill High School student Emily Evers earned the prestigious Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Scholarship, an immersive exchange program offered through the U.S. and German governments. As a recipient of the CBYX Scholarship, Evers will spend the entire next academic school year studying in Germany, engrossed in the country’s culture and language. Living with a host family during her stay, she will also serve as young ambassador of the U.S. sharing American culture and perspectives with classmates, her host family, and the broader communities in Germany.
“I am incredibly excited for Emily as she begins this journey. The gift of bilingualism will open doors for her for the rest of her life professionally and personally. Her achievement is one of the proudest moments of my career,” said Daniel Noble, Warhill High School German Teacher who is also a CBYX Scholarship winner.

Lafayette High School FBLA Students Earn Top Honors at Colonial Region Conference
Students from Lafayette High School’s Future Business Leaders of America chapter delivered an outstanding performance at the recent Colonial Region Conference earning top finishes across numerous events and advancing a record number of students to the state competition.
Lafayette students competed in 23 events during the conference, with 15 students placing in the top three across 13 individual events and two team events. The following students qualified to compete at the 2026 FBLA State Leadership Conference in April: Elena Albanese, Samuel Cantrell, Thomas Cantrell, Megan Green, Rayhan Kamouni, Malak Khadrane, Alana Mikels, Benjamin Reese, Reed Schmidt, Olivia Simone, McCarthy Smith, Grayson Summers, Coady Walk, Harrison Wright, and Kathryn Williams.
“The opportunity of attending and presenting at the Regional Conference tested my willingness and tenacity to try new things—learn from mistakes and grow from them,” Megan Green said. “Every situation I face helps me see things in a new way.”

High School Students from Jamestown, Lafayette and Warhill Compete at Virginia DECA State Leadership Conference
Students from all three high schools showcased their business, marketing, and leadership skills at the Virginia DECA State Leadership Conference, joining hundreds of students from across the state for competitions, leadership activities, and professional development opportunities.
Eight students from Lafayette High School participated in this year’s conference, with several earning top honors in their competitive events. Aditi Patel, president of the Lafayette DECA chapter, earned a state win in Integrating Marketing Campaign – Product. Gabe Maxwell and Hajar Khadrane also placed in the Food Marketing Series event.
“This experience was so important to me because it challenged me to grow my skills and work collaboratively with others,” said Patel. “Winning this award shows that my hard work paid off and motivates me to keep striving for excellence.”
Sue Sydow, Warhill DECA advisor, received the Virginia DECA Outstanding Advisor 2026 Gold Award, which recognizes advisors for exceptional service and their dedication to supporting their chapter, school, and community.
The Jamestown High School DECA chapter was recognized with the Membership Campaign Achievement Level Award.
