York County Searching for Volunteers for ‘No Wake Zone’ Committee

Current ‘No Wake Zones’ in York County. (York County)

YORK COUNTY— Following a large turnout and strong resident interest at last month’s Board of Supervisors meeting, York County is forming a temporary No Wake Zone Administrative Committee to evaluate current markers, review community input and potentially recommend updates, including the removal of zones that may no longer be necessary.

York County residents interested in serving on the committee can apply online.

County officials said any final decisions regarding adding, modifying or removing no-wake zones must still come before the Board of Supervisors and will follow the standard public process, including a public hearing.

“Our goal is to ensure boaters have clear, consistent information so they can enjoy our waterways safely,” Deputy County Administrator Brian Fuller said. “The formation of this committee reflects our commitment to transparency, community involvement and maintaining standards that serve residents and visitors well.”

Applications for the No Wake Zone Administrative Committee will be accepted through March 27, 2026.
